Adelaide Eco-housing
We were sure we would win this one; a low-cost environmental housing competition in Adelaide. I mean, it was made for us.
Okay, so it wouldn't have been that low-cost. A cheapish environmental housing scheme. Anyway, our once-were-good-friends at Troppo won it instead. They win everything. Our scheme would have been much cheaper than theirs with all their fancy shmancy irreverent doo dah eco-nonsense going on. We like to consider ourselves a bit above that sort of thing. Ideas that last and all that. Perhaps our entry got lost in transit. It seems to happen a lot; to us at least. [mental note: gotta stop being rude to that guy from Australia Post]
Truth is, after 3 weeks of toil we wisely decided to skimp on the $150 courier and gave it to a kid on a bicycle down the road. He promised he could get to Adelaide in time. I have seen him cycle to the corner shop and can tell you he moves like lightning. Perhaps he got a puncture o spent the cash on mixed lollies. Damn the youth of today. Damn them.
We entered this scheme with our long term collaborators and great friends at Vim Design, who became DRAW, a young crew as naively optimistic as we are (though much more talented with an all-round even more terrific sense of 'good taste'. Adam still takes his tea 'white with one' (yet orders his coffe 'as it comes'. How in hell are you supposed to remember that?)
